1. Charles Kingsford Smith

Charles Kingsford Smith, born in 1897, was an Australian aviator. He gained international fame for making the first trans-Pacific flight from the United States to Australia in 1928. Kingsford Smith was born in Hamilton, Brisbane, but later settled in the region of Whitsunday Coast. He had a significant impact on aviation and was lauded as a national hero. Unfortunately, he disappeared over the Indian Ocean in 1935 during a flight from England to Australia.

2. George Corones

George Corones, born in 1917, is an Australian swimmer who achieved remarkable success in his later years. At the age of 99, he broke the 50-meter freestyle world record in his age group. Corones, a resident of the Whitsunday Coast, specializes in long-distance swimming and has received multiple accolades for his outstanding swimming career. He continues to inspire others with his incredible achievements in the swimming world.

3. Ali Brigginshaw

Ali Brigginshaw, born in 1989, is a professional rugby league player who hails from the Whitsunday Coast. She has represented Australia in international competitions and has been an instrumental player for the national team. Brigginshaw's outstanding skills and dedication to the sport have earned her numerous awards and accolades. She is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential female players in the rugby league community.

4. Jimmy Little

James Oswald Little, known by his stage name Jimmy Little, was an Australian Aboriginal musician and actor. Born in Cummeragunja Mission, New South Wales, Little had a successful career in the music industry, releasing several popular songs. He was also a pioneer for Indigenous Australian artists and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his contributions. Jimmy Little was associated with the Whitsunday Coast, where he often performed and inspired many aspiring musicians.

5. John Doyle

John Doyle, born in 1949, is an Australian comedian and writer. He gained fame as a satirist and sketch artist, known for his television shows and performances. Doyle was a key figure in the Australian comedy scene, displaying his talent through various characters and satirical commentary on social and political issues. He spent his early years in Mackay, which is located in the Whitsunday Coast region.
